What this is
Muslim Malayalees Canada (MMC) is an independent, community-run platform that helps Malayalee Muslims across Canada find each other. Whether you've just landed in Toronto, are settling into a smaller city where you don't yet know a single family, or are still in Kerala planning the move, MMC is the front door: a place to see who's already here, what's happening, and how to plug in.
We serve anyone who is a Malayalee Muslim living in Canada — newcomers and long-settled families, students and professionals, in the big metros and the towns where our community is only a handful of households. If that's you, this is built for you.
Our story
MMC started as what it still is at heart: city-based WhatsApp groups connecting Malayalee Muslims across the country. From its inception in 2014, members leaned on each other for the things that actually matter after you land — finding accommodation, job leads, immigration and visa questions, spiritual support, and honest answers from people who'd made the same move a few years earlier.
For a long time, that was the whole platform: real community, real support, entirely invisible to anyone not already inside a group. This website exists to change that. It's MMC's public presence — a way for any Malayalee Muslim in Canada, or anyone still back home planning to come, to find us before someone has to hand them a WhatsApp link.
Why we exist
Our community isn't one group — it's dozens of organizations, informal circles, and city networks, many of which don't know about each other. Someone arriving in a new city often has no idea there's already an association running Eid events down the road, a sports league they'd fit right into, or a WhatsApp group for people in their exact profession.
MMC's job is to bridge that gap. We bring the organizations, communities, and people of Malayalee Muslim Canada into one place so it's easier to connect with the right group, communicate across cities and networks, and support one another — the way the original WhatsApp groups always did, now at national scale.

Organizations — A directory of the registered, established groups serving our community across Canada, from province-wide associations to national bodies. Browse them all, or filter to your own settlement city to see who's active near you.
Communities — The informal, volunteer-run side: local circles, sports and recreation groups, professional networks, and women's, youth, and family groups. Filter by province, city, or category, and request to join directly. Know a group that isn't listed? You can submit it.
Events — Upcoming gatherings, talks, picnics, tournaments, and celebrations hosted by community organizations across the country, alongside a record of past events. Any organizer can submit an event to reach the wider community.
Articles — Practical, unglamorous guidance for newcomers (your first Canadian winter, converting a Kerala driving license, registering kids for school, praying on time in a new country) plus heritage pieces on who we are and how we got here. Filter by category or city.
Personalities — Profiles of the scholars, professionals, and community builders our community has produced, from researchers and authors to religious scholars and entrepreneurs.
How joining works
Because MMC connects real people to real city groups, every join request is reviewed by a real admin before anyone is added — never an open sign-up link, never automatic. MMC has been targeted by scams and bad actors before, and vetting is how we keep the trust that makes these groups worth being in. It's slower than a public invite link, and that's the point.
The platform is run by a founder and a distributed team of city-based admins, each able to approve requests for their own city — not one person holding a bottleneck.
Independent, not affiliated
MMC is fully independent. We have no particular relationship with any other Malayalee Muslim organization in Canada — including The Last Monday, KIABC, Merchant Foundation, MMAC, or any group listed on this site — and we're not in competition with any of them either. We list and connect these organizations because that helps the community; we don't speak for them, and they don't speak for us.
We're a community-member-run mutual-help platform. A platform for every organization — credit always belongs to the organizers.
